EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY, USABILITY AND PERFORMANCE, BUT 1 SERIOUS CONCERN...

BULLOGNA, This pan IS NOT excessively heavy like a slab of cast iron, it's less than 3 pounds which is a little less than commercial baking sheets (and half the weight of our newborns that we lifted and lugged around all day until they grew to about 25 pounds!).
~ But more importantly; nearly every professional cook & baker will tell you that stoutness / heaviness in bakeware is a very, very good thing for absorbing the high oven temperatures and then evenly redistributing the heat to the food so it won't burn before it's evenly baked on all sides!! Also the thicker / heavier duty the pan the more durable it is (it won't warp in the oven), the longer it will last and the more use you'll get out of your investment. Cheep, thin pans will waste your groceries, your time and will need replaced so they're not a good value for your money at all.
~ About a year ago I found these on a really good sale, gave them as a gift to a friend with seriously pathetic pans, then spent a whole day helping her make dozens of cookies. She had forgotten baking on her mother's good, solid cookie sheets and was so amazed that it wasn't her `'stupid oven'' after all because SUDDENLY none of her cookies were coming out with burned bottoms. She raved on and on about how these baked everything so evenly, efficiently and beautifully, and the ease of just sliding or guiding the cookies off the end of this truly non-stick pan was a real convenience and time saver. Her family also loved FINALLY getting good home made cookies, so they've been replacing all of her old pans with more from this line of Kitchenaid bakeware and she really ENJOYS baking now. She's actually getting down right brazen at baking new things.
~ Although we both loved the convenience and outstanding performance of these pans we DO have serious safety concerns because this line of bakeware doesn't have adequate handles for gripping on BOTH ends of the pans, which encourages unsafe, unsecure, burn-risking one-handed maneuvering, handling and balancing. Using only one hand is a VERY UNWISE and burn-risking practice when removing pans from your oven or trying to balance a pan of very hot food until it's safely set onto a nearby surface (ESPECIALLY FOR KIDS OR TEENS). So if you buy these, please use GOOD pot holders and ALWAYS ensure that you and all of your helpers will ALWAYS use both hands (even if there aren't two handles on the pan) until you piping hot pans and steaming hot foods are securely set down.

| I don't use teflon anymore because it is harmful to breathe and eat off of (check [...] website for info). I am waiting for xtrema cookware to come out with baking pans. But, when I had this KitchenAid, I found it so heavy and awkward that I gave it away to charity. I do not recommend it. |
